In your own words, tell me about Discord Aggregate in general and this event in specific.
Formed in 1996, Discord Aggregate is an adventurous group of artists who do not acknowledge limitations and have the bravery to develop their own, distinct styles and approaches, which are unique to world’s art. Most critics agree that there is hardly anything out there like Discord Aggregate. The group currently consists of free (founding) members: A. Molotkov, S.B. Reda and Pamela Zero. One of Discord Aggregate’s unique strengths, even in our age of cross-breeding between genres, is the sheer spectrum of its artistic endeavors. The three artists involved have a vast portfolio of individual and collaborative works, including 7 books, 5 CDs, a 2-hour compilation of video films, and a series of paintings and digital art. Discord Aggregate web site at http://www.discord-aggregate.com – a gigantic maze consisting of over 500 web pages – is in itself an art project incorporating unique and witty innovations of web art. Discord Aggregate web site is also known for hosting two interactive writing projects open to public, Eventual Transparency (http://www.discord-aggregate.com/webart/transparency.htm) and The Tower of Babble (http://www.discord-aggregate.com/TowerOfBabble).
The latter has become a loose foundation for the upcoming visual art exhibit, “Preliminary Observations” by Cindy Lubar Bishop, A. Molotkov and Pamela Zero. Bringing in a variety of unusual techniques and a vast array of materials, the authors will present a world that is loaded with meanings and laden with questions – a world as enticing and unusual as Discord Aggregate’s contributions to other art forms have been.
