Another Symphony for Drummachine

As my first novel, this book will always retain a special place in my life, no matter how many more I end up writing.  For a longest time, I wrote short stories, realizing with full clarity that I didn't have an idea, or a set of ideas, expansive enough to justify the commitment of a novel.  Finally, in 1993 this started to shift.  At the time, I had lived in the US for over two years, and I became interested in jumping the language barrier as a writer.  In addition to being my first novel, this book became the first work I wrote in English.  (As a result, it has undergone the most extensive revisions ever since.)

The novel is an erotically charged story of Goombeldt, a painter who finds himself lost in time, as well as in his romantic involvements.   As he tries to understand what impulses define his perception, Goombeldt follows the narrative though different periods of his life, while various of his loves and obsessions come forward and retreat again in a circular succession, contributing to his explorative meanderings in the land between reality and art.
