A Reflection of Shadow's Eyes
“A Reflection of Shadow’s Eyes” contains short stories and
poetry written over a 15 year period (1984 to 1998). Most of them were
originally written in English, some appear in translation from the Russian
original. (At this point, after editing the book several times, I consider the
English versions of these to be the definitive versions.)
Not surprisingly, the prose in this book is quite diverse, including emotional
psychological narratives, conceptual jokes, glimpses of the literature of the
absurd, bizarre stories with unexpected twists, and even fairly tales. The
poetry is lyrical and enigmatic, providing an interesting balance to the prose.
A lot of interesting tools and tricks are used in this book, chronicling my
attacks on the literary conventions mixed with their friendly acceptance, in a
way hopefully unique so far.
The book contains 63 short stories and approximately as many poems.
